Key Insights from MPE Berlin 2025
Once again, KoreFusion team members attended MPE Berlin 2025. It was an incredible opportunity to connect, share ideas, and dive into what’s next for payments. Here are the main takeaways from the event:
- AI – from streamlining payments and fighting fraud, to the risks it brings when cybercriminals use it for more sophisticated attacks. The clear message: to get the best out of AI, you need quality data and human oversight to keep it both effective and ethical.
- Friendly Fraud & Chargebacks on the Rise: With online shopping booming, merchants are feeling the pain of friendly fraud and chargebacks. The focus was on using AI to spot and reduce these cases, and on how new programs from the major card networks can help build trust and cut losses.
- Digital wallets are no longer “nice to have”, they’re becoming a must. They make checkout smoother, reduce cart abandonment, and with the new European Digital Identity (EUDI) regulation, we’re looking at more standardized, user-friendly digital ID wallets across Europe.
- Payment orchestration platforms are picking up steam. They let merchants plug into multiple payment providers, improve approval rates, and keep things running smoothly. In a diverse market, that flexibility is gold.
- Regulation is Shifting: Big changes are coming, with the Digital Operational Resilience Act (DORA) and the anticipated PSD3. These will shape how payment businesses handle operations, security, and authentication – so adapting early will be key.
- One theme that stood out was giving merchants more control over their payment experiences. Offering the right mix of payment options — based on real customer preferences — can boost conversions without overwhelming shoppers.
MPE Berlin 2025 really showed just how quickly the payments world is evolving, driven by new tech and fresh regulations. At KoreFusion, we’re ready to help our clients navigate these changes and make the most of the opportunities ahead.
